Body

Overview

Beginning in Fall of 2026, University faculty, staff, and other authorized Docusign users may notice changes to the appearance, navigation, and organization of familiar Docusign screens. This is a result of Docusign introduction of a redesigned user experience to make preparing, sending, and managing documents for electronic signature easier and more intuitive.

Docusign's core electronic signature capabilities remain available and those who use Docusign for applying signatures only will see aesthetic changes only.

Those who prepare, send, and manage Docusign envelopes will see the most noticeable changes, however, most users will not need to take any action.

What to Expect

The new Docusign experience introduces several interface improvements. Although some controls may appear in different locations, familiar eSignature functions remain available.

Area What to Expect
Navigation Update menus and navigation for accessing and managing agreements.
Preparing Documents A redesigned interface for uploading documents and preparing envelopes.
Adding Recipients Updated layouts for identifying recipients and configuring signing order.
Adding Fields Changes to the tools used to place signatures, dates, text fields, and other information on documents.
Sending Envelopes A modernized sending interface with reorganized controls.
Managing Agreements Changes to how envelopes and their status information are displayed and accessed.

What's New for You

If You Send Documents for Signature

You will notice the most significant changes when preparing and sending envelopes.

Some buttons, menus, and controls may be located differently in the new interface for common activities, such as:

  • Uploading documents
  • Adding recipients and specifying signing order
  • Placing signature, date, and other fields
  • Reviewing and sending envelopes
  • Monitoring envelope status
  • Correcting or voiding envelopes when necessary

If You Receive Documents for Signature

If you primarily use Docusign to review and electronically sign documents, the changes to the interface will have little direct impact on your activities or experience.

While some screens may have a new look due to Docusign's modernization efforts, the signing experience will remain the same. You will continue to receive Docusign signature requests and follow the instructions provided to review and sign documents.

If You Manage Previously Sent Documents

Docusign is updating how agreements are organized and displayed.

Depending on your level of permission in Docusign and the features enabled in your account, familiar Inbox and Sent views will be replaced by agreement views organized around status and required actions.

For example, your Inbox view and other folders have been replaced by the following:

  • All Agreements (including a filter option for Date, Status, Sender, and Quick Views)
  • Drafts
  • In Progress
  • Action Required

These changes are intended to help users locate and manage agreements more efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to create a new Docusign account?

A: No. Continue using your existing university-authorized Docusign account.

Q: Will my existing envelopes disappear?

A: No. The new user experience does not require users to recreate existing envelopes.

Q: Will I need to recreate documents or templates?

A: No. The introduction of the redesigned sending interface does not require existing documents or templates to be recreated.

Q: Will I still be able to send documents for signature?

A: Yes. Standard electronic signature capabilities remain available.

Q: Will my saved signatures change?

A: The interface changes do not require users to create new signatures.

Q: Will existing instructions and training materials still work?

A: The general procedures remain similar, but some existing screenshots, instructions, and training videos may not match the redesigned interface. Docusign has and will be updating their materials accordingly.

Q: Can I switch back to the previous Docusign interface?

A: The availability of the previous interface depends on the feature, Docusign's rollout schedule, and account administration settings. Some features may allow users to revert to the previous interface during the transition, but users should plan to become familiar with the new experience.

Q: Do recipients outside the university need to do anything?

A: Special action is not required solely because of the new sending experience. External recipients will continue to receive and complete Docusign signature requests.

Q: What about Templates, PowerForms, and Other Advanced Features?

A: Users who manage templates, PowerForms, or automated Docusign processes do not need to rebuild those processes solely because the standard sending interface is changing. As part of the redesigned eSignature experience, Docusign is introducing changes and enhancements that support many university business, academic, and research needs, including:

  • Changes to how envelope templates are built and managed.
  • The continuing evolution of self-service documents and signature processes through PowerForms.

Additional guidance regarding advanced features will be provided as changes are evaluated and introduced.

Q: Where can I get help?

A: If you have difficulty completing a familiar Docusign task after the interface changes, the following resources are available:

  • Docusign Resources
    • Docusign Support - Access online documentation, how-to articles, and troubleshooting resources.
    • Docusign University - Explore training courses, videos, and learning paths to build your Docusign knowledge.
