Canvas Updates for Fall 2026

To ensure uninterrupted access to Canvas for the Fall semester, all students should complete the following three steps:

Bookmark the New Canvas Website

The new Canvas URL is:

canvas.nebraska.edu

Students should use this address every time they access Canvas.

How to Create a Bookmark (Chrome Example)

  1. Open your web browser.
  2. Navigate to canvas.nebraska.edu and sign in.
  3. Click the star icon in the address bar.
  4. Name the bookmark Canvas – Nebraska.
  5. Save the bookmark.

Note: Bookmarking steps may vary slightly depending on your browser.

Reconnect the Canvas Student Mobile App

Students using the Canvas Student app must reconnect the app to the University of Nebraska Canvas environment.

Reconnect to the new instance of Canvas

  1. Open the Canvas Student app.
  2. Select the Menu (☰) in the upper-left corner.
  3. Choose Change User or Log Out.
  4. Search for University of Nebraska.
  5. Sign in using your NU credentials.

✅ Once completed, the app will be connected to the new Canvas instance.

Review and Update Notification Preferences

Students should review their notification settings to ensure they continue receiving important Canvas updates.

Update Notification Settings

  1. Sign in at canvas.nebraska.edu.
  2. Select Account from the left navigation menu.
  3. Choose Notifications.
  4. Review and update notification preferences for items such as:
    • Course Activities
    • Due Dates
    • Grading Policies
    • Course Content
    • Files
  5. Select Save.

Updating notification preferences helps ensure important course information is delivered through the channels you prefer.
