Resetting your Password

Objective

Reset your University of Nebraska password.

Before You Begin

These instructions are for users who have previously set up their Single Sign-On password. For instructions on initial account setup, visit the Knowledge Base article Claim Your Identity.

Steps

1. In a web browser, go to https://trueyou.nebraska.edu .

2. Click the Change Password link under the Manage Your Accounts section. 

3. Click True You Identity Manager under the Sign On Using Your TrueYou Identity section. 

4. If you know your current password, sign in with current password. 

5. If you don't know your current password, click the Forgot your password link.

   1. Enter a personal email address that is associated with your account, and your NUID.

   2. You will receive an email with a link to click to return to TrueYou.

6. Enter your new password in the New Password box, making sure it meets  Password Requirements.

   • Passwords must be at least 10 characters long
   • Passwords must meet 3 out the following 4 requirements :
     • Uppercase letters
     • Lowercase letter
     • Numbers
     • Special character
   • Passwords Must Not include:
     • Any resemblance to personal information:
       • Your Name
       • Your User name
       • Your Birthday
   • Passwords cannot be on a list of known bad passwords

7. ​Enter the new password again in the Confirm New Password box.

8. Click the Change Password button.
