Email Security - Proofpoint

Zoom logoProofpoint Email Security Gateway is an email protection service provided to protect faculty and staff from email threats by securing and controlling inbound and outbound email.

Benefits & Features

All incoming email is inspected by the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway as soon as it arrives at the University. Messages that contain a virus, spam, or inappropriate content are sent to a Quarantine area.

If email messages addressed to you end up in the Quarantine, you will receive a notification, called Digest, in your Inbox.

Messages may also be managed through an online portal.

Getting Started

Review the user guide to learn how the daily digest and Proofpoint portal work to manage your email.

What do I do if I want to report a spam message?

If you receive a spam email directly to your inbox in Microsoft Outlook that you would like blocked, click on the report phish button in Outlook.

If that does not work, please forward it as a file attachment to support@nebraska.edu using one of these methods:

  • Outlook for Windows: select Other Actions (... button) > Forward As Attachment
  • Outlook for macOS: select Message menu > Forward As Attachment
  • Both Platforms: Drag and drop the spam message from the message list into a new message to support@nebraska.edu

Eligibility

Students, faculty and staff are eligible for this service.

Pricing
