Account Rename

Please be aware that:

  • Account renames will only be performed to accommodate a name change.
  • Custom usernames are not supported. All usernames are system-generated to ensure uniqueness systemwide.
  • Account renames can cause service disruption. There may be a period of up to 24 hours where you cannot log in to various campus services. This includes services such as Canvas, email, and Zoom.
  • If you have shared OneDrive files with others the links will no longer work and you will need to re-share the files after the rename is complete.

If you have not already done so, please update your name in our Identity Management system.

Account renames require your name to be updated in our Identity Management system. In order to do this, please do the following based on your role with the university:

  • Students - visit MyRedMavLINK, or MyBlue to update your preferred name.
  • Employees - visit Firefly to update your chosen name.
