OnGuard Installation Guide - MacOS

Objective

OnGuard is an application designed for personal (BYOD) computers to perform Baseline Security posture checks. These posture checks allow these devices to authenticate to Medium Risk (Level 3) network segments while connected to Eduroam or a wired network on campus.

This guide will detail the instructions for installing OnGuard to a macOS computer. Additional instructions for installing OnGuard for Windows devices can be found on the article OnGuard Installation Guide - Windows.

 

Prerequisites

  1. Device must be listed as a Supported Operating System.
  2. Device must have Cortex XDR installed.
  3. To obtain access to a Medium Risk (Level 3) network segment, the authenticating user must be an active employee at the university and be able to authenticate at Level 3 with their credentials.

 

Before You Begin

OnGuard requires an on-campus or VPN connection for the download to take place.

OnGuard macOS Installer

 

Instructions

  1. Download the macOS installer for OnGuard.
  2. Open and mount the ClearPassOnGuardInstall.dmg file that was downloaded to your Mac.
  3. Within the mounted ClearPassOnGuard .dmg file, run ClearPassOnGuard.pkg.

  4. A prompt will appear that states: “This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed” , select Allow.

  5. Proceed through the installation wizard, which will provide details on the installation process.

  6. Once the installation is complete, select Close to exit the window.
  7. On the top menu bar of the macOS desktop screen, a green shield icon will appear. Click this icon and select the Show ClearPass OnGuard option from the menu.

  8. The application will appear, showing the OnGuard status of the device and any items that may need to be remediated.
