Objective
The following steps describe the process to manually download and install the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent on Windows.
Users
Windows users that need to complete installation of the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent.
Before You Begin
Use of the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent has the following requirements:
- Local administrator access is required to install the On Demand Desktop Update Agent.
- The account to be migrated should already be configured within New Outlook or Classic Outlook but be in non-operational state.
- The Quest software requires that accounts using the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent be configured in Quest web interface. This has typically been completed in advance for faculty and staff. Additional accounts such as student accounts can be requested for configuration by providing the end user's NUID in the FRCCW EM - Migration Day channel in Teams.
- Installation of the Quest On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent can be done while waiting for the user configuration step to take place.
The On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent can be downloaded from: Quest-Desktop-Agent.zip
Download and Install the Application
- Download the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent from: Quest-Desktop-Agent.zip
- Browse to the folder where the Quest-Desktop-Agent.zip file was downloaded. Right click the .zip file and select "Extract All."

- Open the Quest-Desktop-Agent folder, right click "Install Quest Desktop Agent" and select "Run as administrator". The MSI file should not be ran directly as it will not reference the QuestConfiguration.mst file on its own.

- You may receive a "Open File - Security Warning" notification when opening the installation file. Click "Run" when prompted to continue the installation.

- You may receive a "User Account Control" notification when opening the installation file. Click "OK" or "Yes" when prompted to continue the installation.
- A dialog box will be displayed when the application installation is complete.

- The application can now be found under the Start menu as "On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent". If the application does not appear under the Start menu, it can also be found at: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest\On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent\DesktopUpdateAgent.exe"
Troubleshooting
Problem: When opening the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent, you may receive a message that indicating that "No active configurations tasks were found."

Solutions:
1. Verify that New Outlook or Classic Outlook are installed and have the 'to be migrated' account added.
2. The On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent requires the user running the application to be configured in the Quest web console for a migration task. This has normally been completed in advance for faculty and staff. Students or others can be requested by providing the user's NUID in the FRCCW EM - Migration Day channel in Teams.
