Running the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent after Migration - Windows

Objective

After you have migrated as part of the Future Ready Cloud Collaboration project, you should run the On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent which will complete the process to make your applications ready for use. 

Users

Windows users that have completed the migration process as part of the Future Ready Cloud Collaboration project.

Before You Begin

Ensure that you have successfully migrated to nead.nebraska.edu and login to your university managed Windows device using YourNUID@nebraska.edu and your TrueYou password. 

Before You Begin: Sign Out of Teams

  1. Open the Microsoft Teams app.
    • The app can be found from the desktop in the task bar tray - located by the date and time. 
    • Alternatively, click Start and search for Microsoft Teams in the list of applications.

  2. In the Microsoft Teams app, click on the account in the upper right and select Sign out
    • If asked if you are sure you want to sign out, click Sign out on the pop-up.

  3. After signing out of Teams, close out of the application by clicking the X in the top right corner. 
     

Before You Begin: Unlink OneDrive

  1. Right click the OneDrive cloud icon in the task bar tray - located by the date and time and then click the settings gear, and select Settings.

  2. A new pop up will appear on your screen, in which you will then select Account and then click Unlink this PC
    • Another pop-up will appear, click Unlink account

  3. After unlinking OneDrive, close out of the application by clicking the X in the top right corner. 

Next Steps! And Running the Tool!

  1. Close out of all desktop Office 365 Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, etc.)
  2. Close out of the Windows File Explorer.
  3. Click in the Search box in the lower left of your screen and type in "On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent". 

     
  4. Click on the result to open it.
  5. Under Account Information you should see your old username and your NUID@nebraska.edu is listed after "Your new email address will be".
    • Please note your email address will not be changing - you will only use this ID to log into your machine and applications.
  6. Click the Start button.

  7. The Agent will now configure each listed app. You may be prompted to close an app that is open by clicking "Close the specific app now".On Demand Migration Desktop Update Agent Configuring Desktop Applications screen.
     
  8. The Agent may prompt you to log into apps as needed using YourNUID@nebraska.edu and TrueYou password.

  9. When you reach the "Set up OneDrive" screen, click "Sign In" and enter your YourNUID@nebraska.edu and TrueYou password if prompted.Microsoft OneDrive Login screen
     
  10. You may receive a message regarding folder backup during the OneDrive setup process. Click "Next" to continue.

  11.  Continue to follow the prompts until the agent finishes configuration of the listed apps.
