Connecting to Campus WiFi (eduroam)

Objective

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network at the University of Nebraska.

Before You Begin

Before attempting to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network, make sure you have your campus email (e.g., username@nebraska.edu, @unk.edu, @unl.edu, @unmc.edu, @unomaha.edu)​​​​ and campus email password ready. 

Steps for iOS and iPadOS
  1. Open the Settings app and tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Choose eduroam from the list of available network
  3. Your device will prompt you to log in to the network. Use your campus email (e.g., username@nebraska.edu, @unk.edu, @unl.edu, @unmc.edu, @unomaha.edu)​​​​ for authentication.
  4. Accept the Eduroam certificate by tapping Trust and authenticate with your device passcode, if prompted.
  5. If you previously connected to NU-Guest, remove or forget that network from your preferred networks.
Steps for a Mac
  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top right of your desktop.
  2. Choose eduroam from the list of available networks.
  3. Your Mac will prompt you to log in to the network. Use your campus email (e.g., username@nebraska.edu, @unk.edu, @unl.edu, @unmc.edu, @unomaha.edu)​​​​ for authentication.
  4. Accept the Eduroam certificate by clicking Continue and authenticate with your Local macOS Credentials, if prompted.
  5. If you previously connected to NU-Guest, remove or forget that network from your preferred networks.
Steps for  a Windows Machine
  1. Go to the bottom right of your desktop and select Wi-Fi. 
  2. Choose eduroam from the list of available networks.
  3. Windows will prompt you to log in to the network. Use your campus email (e.g., username@nebraska.edu, @unk.edu, @unl.edu, @unmc.edu, @unomaha.edu)​​​​ for authentication.
  4. Accept the Eduroam certificate and authenticate with your Local Windows Credentials, if prompted.
  5. If you previously connected to NU-Guest, remove or forget that network from your preferred networks.
Steps for Android Devices
  1. Open Settings app and tap Connections.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Tap +Add network.
  4. Add the following information:
    • Security: 802.1x EAP
    • EAP Method: PEAP
    • Phase-2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
    • Proxy Settings: None
    • IP Settings: DHCP
    • CA Certificate: Use System Certificates
    • Online Certificate Status: Request Certificate Status
    • Domain: nebraska.edu
    • Identity: your campus email (e.g., username@nebraska.edu, @unk.edu, @unl.edu, @unmc.edu, @unomaha.edu)​​​​ for authentication.
    • Anonymous Identity: You can leave this field empty or use anonymous@(e.g., nebraska.edu,unk.edu, unl.edu, unmc.edu, unomaha.edu) for added privacy.
    • Password: Use your campus email password
