ResNet provides support with wired and wireless network connectivity for UNL students in residence halls.
Getting Started
WiFi Connectivity
eduroam network
eduroam serves as the main Wi-Fi network for University of Nebraska students, faculty, and staff, offering WiFi access across the entire campus. This network is set up for seamless use on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. However, for other devices, such as IoT devices, they should be connected to the NU-IoT network instead. Instructions on how to connect to eduroam
NU-IoT network
Internet of Things (IoT) is accessible for devices that cannot utilize an Ethernet connection and are not eligible for eduroam. These devices include game consoles, streaming devices, TVs, and other smart devices. Each device must be individually registered, and they will each have their unique WiFi password.
IoT registration lasts for one year before needing to be renewed. You can manage and edit your registered devices whenever necessary.
Wired Connectivity
Please submit the ResNet support request to activate the data ports in your room. Ethernet cables are available for free at your Residence Hall front desk.
Eligibility
UNL students living in Residence Halls.
Pricing
There is no charge for this service.
Additional Information
Please refrain from bringing any routers (wireless or wired), hubs, or switches into the residence halls. These devices can cause conflicts on the University Network and may result in your network connection being deactivated. This policy is enforced by Information Services Networking to safeguard the network's integrity. Your cooperation in adhering to this policy is vital.
